Overview

SelfScenario operates selfscenario.com. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.

The short version: We don’t require an account and don’t store your scenario answers. We run display ads through Google AdSense, which uses cookies. You can opt out of personalised ads at any time.

By using this site you agree to the practices described here. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

What we collect

Information you give us voluntarily

The only time you directly give us personal data is when you contact us via our contact page. In that case we collect your name, email address, and the content of your message. We use this only to reply to you. We don’t add you to any mailing list.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the site, standard web server logs and analytics services collect: your IP address, browser type, operating system, pages visited, session duration, referrer URL, and general location (country level). This data is aggregated and not linked to your identity.

Your scenario answers

We do not store your scenario choices or results. Processing happens in your browser. Once you leave the page, nothing is retained by us.

How we use it

  • To run and improve the site – understanding which scenarios people use helps us make better ones.
  • To reply to messages – if you contact us, we use your email to respond.
  • To serve advertising – SelfScenario is free and supported by display ads. See the Advertising section below.

We do not sell personal data. We do not do email marketing.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device by your browser when you visit a website.

Essential cookies

Set by our WordPress infrastructure and caching plugin (LiteSpeed Cache) to serve the right version of pages. These are necessary and can’t be disabled.

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site. Data collected is anonymous and aggregated. You can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising cookies

Set by Google AdSense to serve relevant ads. See the Advertising section below.

Managing cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Instructions: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

SelfScenario is a free site supported by display advertising through Google AdSense and Google Ad Manager.

Google uses cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other sites. This is sometimes called interest-based or personalised advertising.

To opt out of personalised ads, visit Google Ads Settings or the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page. You may still see ads – they just won’t be personalised.

For more on how Google uses data: Google Privacy Policy.

Third-party services

Google Analytics – anonymous website analytics. No personal data shared with Google through this service.

Google AdSense / Ad Manager – display advertising. May set cookies for ad personalisation. See above.

LiteSpeed Cache – server-side caching for performance. Sets a session cookie only. No personal data collected or transmitted.

This site may contain links to third-party websites. We have no control over those sites and their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

Your rights

Depending on where you are, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to processing. Because we collect very little direct personal data, these rights have limited practical scope here. But we take all requests seriously.

If you’re in the EU or EEA, the GDPR applies. If you’re in California, the CCPA applies. To exercise any rights, contact us.

Children

SelfScenario is not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we’ll delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our practices change or when law requires it. The “last updated” date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
